Youth Work

SAVER/NAVER has always had the desire to reach older teenagers in the community, and provide a safe haven for them to meet and "chill out". To this end, we have established a Youth Club which meets on a Friday night at Bingham House.

We are also working closely with Youth Action, and are planning to introduce an awards scheme which will reward the young people for their efforts, and give them ownership.

The purpose of SAVER/NAVER's youth work is to enable young people to:

  • build self esteem and self confidence
  • develop the ability to manage personal and social relationships
  • develop new skills
  • consider risk, make reasoned decisions and take control
  • develop a 'world view' that widens horizons and invites social commitment

We are here to work with young people who have low personal and social skills and who are at

risk of exclusion through:

  • antisocial behaviour
  • lifestyle choices
  • lack of opportunity

We aim to develop opportunities that help young people to:

  • develop personal and social skills
  • achieve recognised qualifications
  • participate in decision making
  • develop good healthy options
  • take part in activities
  • participate in residential situations both at home and abroad
