Befriending

A FREE & CONFIDENTIAL LOCAL SUPPORT SERVICE

SAVER/NAVER has a small number of volunteers who are able and trained to take on the role of 'befrienders' to an older person who is housebound and isolated. We receive referrals for this service from family members etc. Our volunteers will make the first visit, by appointment and will then make arrangements with the client for a mutually agreeable time to visit per week. Befriending visits usually last about one hour and give the client the opportunity to see a friendly face who is there solely to chat with. Volunteers are also able to accompany clients to hospital outpatient visits as an escort.

Do you/or do you know someone who:

  • Suffers from isolation?
  • Feels vulnerable?
  • Who feels frightened?
  • Who needs peace of mind to know that someone will check on them regularly?
  • Could benefit from a regular friendly call or a visit from one of our professional befriender?
  • Someone who suffers from stress and distress?

THEN DO NOT HESITATE
